WHO
Monday night is a senior/open age women’s competition. Players are turning 14 years in year of competition or older (a junior comp is run on Saturday mornings for younger players). There are a range of age groups and skill levels in this comp so teams are graded in the first two rounds of play. We usually have between 3 and 5 grades per season.
Some treat it as a social comp, some are a little more serious and everyone has fun!
WHEN
There are two separate seasons each year autumn (Feb-Jun) and spring (Aug-Dec). Games times may have to be altered from our usual 7pm and 8pm times depending on numbers of teams and guidelines on outdoor gatherings/sports.
UMPIRING
Some umpiring duties are required, usually between 6-7 games per season. You may nominate to cover this yourself or organise an umpire through the ANA for a fee. You do not umpire your own games, your duty is only when you are not playing.
TEAMS
Team nominations are called for 3-4 weeks prior to the beginning of each season. A team manager nomination is required as a contact and 7 players must be registered before week one to take the court. The team name must be submitted before players can register to the team. Make sure your players know their team name before registering.
UNIFORMS
We would like to be flexible and allow players to wear what they are comfortable wearing within the following guidelines:
-
We require no jewellery for safety (single, taped wedding band acceptable).
-
We require teams to wear same colour tops and bottoms for easy identification of players by opposition and umpires (if not wearing team dresses).
-
Shorts/skirts/leggings must be plain and all the same colour.
-
We require no pockets for safety.
-
Tops must be the same colour and style, either all sleeved t-shirts or all sleeveless tops (not thin strapped singlet tops).
-
Sports pants/nicks are to be worn under skirts and dresses.
-
If long-sleeved tops are worn in extreme cold - they should be the team’s colour and not have a hood.
We ask that teams please adhere to this and see that it is a major relaxation of previous rules for the benefit and inclusion of all players.
